Edu Menezes

Edu Menezes is a motion designer, editor and director from Brazil. He came up inside agencies, cutting and animating, and went from there into cinema, museums and video art. He directed the adidas film for Club América, and the work now is mostly case films, where the cut and the design are one job.

The kit launch for Club América, the most supported football club in Mexico, directed and cut. In Mexico City an old jersey gets traded rather than thrown away, and the film goes with that trade.

Why Stories Matter? (Canal Azul / Gullane)

“Bituca” — the name everyone here calls him — is the feature documentary on Milton Nascimento, one of the defining voices of Brazilian music. Titles, VFX and motion design, for the producer Gullane. It opened in cinemas nationwide and went out on TV Globo and Globoplay in November 2025.

The independent agency Anselmo Ramos and Gastón Bigio started in Miami, with a São Paulo office too. I worked with both. “The Stolen Art Gallery,” for Compass UOL, hung paintings that were stolen from museums and never recovered. Spaten’s fight-night launch came from the same run.

Machado de Assis is the greatest writer in the Portuguese language, and he was a Black man — the portraits that survive of him had been lightened. For Zumbi dos Palmares, the São Paulo university founded for Afro-Brazilian students, “The Real Machado de Assis” gave his features back. XP’s “Coast of Sexism” came from the same room.
