The brief

Compass UOL, the technology company inside the UOL group, had built a way of being in a room with strangers. It needed somewhere worth standing.

The idea

A gallery in the metaverse hung with nothing but stolen work: Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Cézanne, Manet. Each one rebuilt from whatever record of it survives, which in some cases is a catalogue photograph and in others is a description.

The result

Launched by destroying the paintings again on screen, to get people to come and see them. iOS, Android and Oculus Quest; ARTnews, The Art Newspaper, Gizmodo and Exame all ran it.
